Why volunteer?
Volunteering at Caras Alegres offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact while experiencing authentic Guatemalan life away from typical tourist activities.
As a volunteer, you'll be involved in our afternoon program three times a week. This includes engaging with children through outdoor activities like soccer, jump rope games, and street chalk painting. You'll also participate in crafts and assist our director, Allan, with planned activities. We welcome your input and ideas to enrich our program further.
Additionally, you can contribute to administrative tasks and community initiatives, such as workshops for parents and women in the community.
While fluency in Spanish is not required, basic proficiency is recommended since it's the primary language spoken by children and most adults in the community. If needed, you can combine volunteering with Spanish classes at one of the local schools in Quetzaltenango. For instance, you could volunteer on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during our afternoon program and attend Spanish classes on Tuesday and Thursday.
Join us in making a difference at Caras Alegres while immersing yourself in the vibrant culture of Guatemala.
